FAQs
How do I commission a piece?
You can reach out to me at breeglassart@gmail.com to reserve your date and space in our flower presses. From there we will talk about what you’re looking for and form a plan to make it happen.
How much does it cost?
It really varies! I will work with you to find something that fits within your budget. Very small pieces are a budget-friendly option that generally only cost about $35. From there prices increase depending on size and how much labor is required. Feel free to check out my Pricing Page or reach out to me directly for a more specific quote based on what you’re looking for.
How long does it take?
It can take up to eight weeks, usually less. The flower pressing alone takes up half of that time frame. It’s important to make sure flowers are completely dry before placing them in glass. So the short answer is: it takes up to eight weeks. But the longer answer is: I will try to complete it asap, with eight weeks being the high end.
Can all types of flowers be pressed?
Just about. Some types of flowers are better suited to it than others but the vast majority can be pressed. Some flowers, such as roses, must be taken apart and pressed in individual pieces, then reassembled once every petal is dry. It may require some creativity but I can almost always figure out a way for a flower to work. For example, I’ve cut blue thistle and sun balls in half before pressing and they turned out amazing! For questions about specific types of flowers, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Will the flowers look the same after they dry?
No. The vast majority of flowers change color as they dry. And the color will continue to change over time, depending on the type of flower and how much direct sunlight they receive. But this is not a bad thing! Pressed flowers are beautiful in their own right even as they change.
Can anyone commission a piece?
For best results, flowers need to be as fresh as possible when I place them in the flower press. For that reason, I usually work with folks in Chico, CA and the surrounding area. However, if you are out of the area, you do have the option to overnight the flowers to me. Feel free to send me an email about your specific scenario and I will do my best to accommodate you.
Do I pay up front?
I ask that you pay a small deposit to hold your date, but that deposit will be deducted from the final cost. The deposit is refundable up until four months before the wedding date. You do not pay the final amount until the piece is finished.
